Sidechain is one of the basic methods when producing dance music, as it is one of the vital techniques for “shaking” the melody. Nicky Romero tried to make its implementation easier. The Dutch DJ/producer announced this week that he has completed development of a new Kickstart plugin that can be used as a sidechain for compresses similar to Dada Life's Sausage Fattener distortion. While Kickstart's idea is far from revolutionary, the plugin offers 16 easy-to-use modulation curves and clean/dirty controls in the mix, which can be helpful enough for new producers to understand the concept behind how the effect works.
